The dynamic Markets & Channels Technology (MCT) team is a vibrant, cross-location cluster of Digital Technology (DT). With c.390 members across Billund, Copenhagen, London and Shanghai, our focus is on software engineering, digital product design, agile coaching and technical program management.

At the heart of MCT lies Shopper Technology, dedicated to revolutionizing the global branded e-commerce and store channels through innovative tech solutions. In 2024, we’re set to elevate the LEGO.com shopping experience with cutting-edge user interfaces and enhanced functionalities. This area also covers the Shopper Technologies for the China ecosystem, with a team based in Shanghai.

Within our LEGO.com Platform team, we’re on a mission to streamline user experiences while envisioning the future of LEGO.com. Our goals for 2024 include enhancing site reliability, optimizing user journey data collection, simplifying A/B testing, and redefining the Shopper profile.

Our Partner teams drive B2B solutions and support the LEGO sales organization with seamless technology products. From facilitating product orders to optimizing commercial planning, we’re committed to ensuring top-notch service for our partner customers. We’re currently focusing on modernizing our tech stack, developing new APIs, and building capabilities like Retail Planning and an EDI Platform.

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead and inspire the Markets & Channels Technology (MCT) organization to innovate, improve flow, productivity and quality of LEGO customer facing digital solutions, digital partner ecosystem and tools for our colleagues in Markets and Channels, whilst continuously considering how to drive value for the business
  • Engage the senior leadership group and product leaders with architecture and strategic plans, being comfortable engaging in technical discussions with engineering teams to deliver value both to our customers and wider business whilst ensuring our systems are built to the right architecture standards.
  • Shape the team culture within the LEGO brand framework and Leadership Playground to optimize flow and delivery across MCT whilst both fostering and driving a diverse and inclusive approach across the organization and challenging teams and leaders to always strive to improve and learn.
  • Partner closely across the Product, Shopper and Partner domain areas to align on approach and ensure products delivered are high quality, innovative and deliver the best experience for our audiences, through excellent horizontal and vertical collaboration
  • Influence and challenge senior stakeholders, peers and product leaders to ensure trade-offs are clear and appropriate decisions are made
  • Turn strategy and concepts into practical solutions that deliver value to our business, while keeping focus on how solutions are being built by our product teams.
  • Lead teams that create resilient, scalable architecture and deliver quality software engineering.
  • Accountable for budget (Total Cost of Ownership) & headcount for MCT, alignment to cyber security & compliance regulations, and collaboration across Digital Technology and User Groups

 

As well as leading the MCT cluster, you will be an active member of the Digital Technology leadership team, driving initiatives across DT and considering how we innovate for the future and drive our plans forward.

Do you have what it takes?

  • A heritage of Software Engineering and engineering culture Leadership – likely from education and throughout career
  • Strong software architecture competencies that enable cross enterprise architectural and software design leadership
  • A solid understanding of agile methodologies
  • Deep experience with product ways of working / operating in a digital product organization
  • Extensive track record in software engineering, with a vast amount of hands-on experience in developing, running, and scaling innovative technology solutions and platforms within large, distributed product organizations.
  • Proven expertise in e-commerce, adept at crafting the optimal technical architecture to drive business value while prioritizing the end user’s needs. Proficient in recognizing and addressing the opportunities and challenges inherent in building compelling shopper and partner-facing products and services
  • Well-versed in modern software development practices, engineering methodologies, and design principles across various segments of the technology stack
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, adept at spearheading multiple products and services throughout their lifecycle. Skilled in negotiating feature prioritization against feasibility and adeptly managing associated risks
  • Seasoned and inspirational people leader with a talent for inspiring teams within a dynamic, matrixed organization. Ability to cultivate diverse teams, foster inclusivity, and nurture a culture of continuous evolution. Proficient in leading multidisciplinary teams encompassing software engineering, agile coaching, digital product design, and technical program management.
  • Experience in orchestrating the development of platforms alongside products to drive efficiency and satisfaction of users, navigating the intricate balance between commercial viability and technical feasibility. Skilled at structuring teams to optimize abilities and drive successful outcomes
  • Fluency in English language required

Nice to have

  • Experience in an international business environment preferably including global ecommerce and/or consumer focus
  • Effective collaborator across functions, capable of rallying stakeholders to drive strategic initiatives and foster forward-thinking solutions. Adept communicator skilled at forming alliances and aligning multiple collaborators, both internal and external, towards a common goal.
  • Extensive experience in leading within fast-paced, iterative environments, ideally spearheading agile transformations within traditional enterprises
  • Proficient in upward communication to senior leadership and board level leaders, fostering a culture of high transparency and accountability
  • Familiarity with MACH (Microservices, APIs, Cloud and Headless) GraphQL, Typescript / or any relevant tech stacks is advantageous

This role will be based at our vibrant Copenhagen Digital Hub, which has a fantastic blend of both professionalism and camaraderie. You will be based in Copenhagen, Denmark but will be required to travel to London regularly, and Shanghai occasionally.
